Frequently Asked Questions
We've compiled a list of answers to common questions.
This depends on your child, their age and the nature of their nutritional need.
Your child is very welcome to attend the consultation, however many consultations are held with parents/carers alone.
If your child is younger than about 5 years old there may be no added benefit for them to attend. However, if your child is a bit older it may be helpful for them to be present if they have some understanding of why we are having the consultation.
Your child is also welcome to join in for some of the consultation if that is easier for you to manage, or more appropriate.
I can help guide you on this when you book an appointment but I am also happy to work with what you think is best.
Before your consultation you will be asked to complete a new client information form and return a 3-day food diary representing your child’s normal food and drink intake.
The 3-day food diary can be completed by either a written or typed record of what your child has eaten and drank over 3 typical days. If you have added the full nutritional analysis to your consultation, you will be emailed a link to the Libro app which you can download and complete their food diary directly on the app.
The full nutritional analysis is very helpful and I’d highly recommend adding this to your consultation as it provides us with a more accurate analysis of your child’s intake.
I will also require a recent height and weight of your child and any relevant medical letters would be helpful.
Initial video consultations are about 60 minutes, and follow up consultations are about 30 minutes long.
We will start by discussing your concerns and what you would like to get out of your appointment.
We will also discuss any relevant medical history including possible allergies and any dietary related symptoms, your child’s growth history, go through their 3 day food diary in detail and discuss any relevant eating/feeding behaviours and patterns they may have.
From this information, tailor-made suggestions will be given for your child.
Within 5 days after your consultation you will be emailed a summary report of our agreed action points. This is a summary of what was recommended during your consultation and a reference for you to have and implement at home.
After most initial consultations at least one and often a few follow up consultations are recommended. The number of follow ups and the time between appointments will vary and will depend on the nature of the consultation. This will be discussed at the end of your consultation.
After your consultation you are also welcome to email me any queries you have. Longer queries may require a separate appointment but I’m happy to answer any shorter questions you may have.
