The Children’s Nutrition Practice is a private nutritional consultancy run by Danielle Petersen, Registered Dietitian, who has over 15 years experience in childhood nutrition.
Danielle has worked in numerous London NHS teaching Hospitals, the most recent being Great Ormond Street Hospital. Over the years she has gained vast experience regarding the nutritional needs of infants, children and adolescents, including those who are healthy and those with a medical diagnosis.
She offers private nutritional consultations to families, helping them optimise their child’s nutritional intake and growth. She is also a mum to 3 young boys, so together with her professional knowledge she also has personal experience in feeding little ones and all the ups and downs that come with it.
Consultations are offered remotely via Skype.
Danielle is also available for media work, article writing, speaking events and training.
All consultations are individualised, taking into account any medical needs and lifestyle preferences.

Danielle is a registered Dietitian who has over 15 years of experience in children nutrition, working most recently at Great Ormond Street for 4 years before starting in private practice. She is a co-author of a chapter in ‘Clinical Paediatric Dietetics’, which is the leading nutritional reference book for Paediatric Dietitians in the UK and is one of very few dietitians in the UK to hold an MSc in Paediatric Dietetics. Danielle has presented talks and research findings at conferences both in the UK and internationally and enjoys staying up to date with the latest research.
Since graduating from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, Danielle has worked in South Africa, Germany and the UK, and has gained immense experience in childhood nutrition by working across many different settings. For over 6 years she worked at two of the UK’s leading Children’s Hospitals, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and Evelina London Children’s Hospital (Guy’s and St Thomas’s). She has also worked at an NHS University hospital, within community trusts, the private sector and for the British Forces providing families, schools and other health care professionals with nutritional advice.
In 2013, Danielle became one of the first Dietitians in the UK to obtain an MSc in Paediatric Dietetics. She has also been involved in various published research projects, taught on study days and MSc level courses, written for professional publications and is the co-author of a couple of chapters in nutritional textbooks.
Danielle has extensive knowledge in infant and childhood nutrition and has vast experience in the nutritional treatment of many different medical conditions. She has specific interest in food allergies and intolerances, gastrointestinal problems, fussy eating, weaning, autism, general healthy eating, neuro-disabilities, surgical conditions and renal conditions, however she is also available to see children with other nutritional needs or conditions as requested.
She is a full member of the British Dietetic Association and is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.
